The Times of Trenton’s Boys Soccer Player of the Year for 2017 is two-time All-American Ibrahima Diop of The Pennington School.

Diop is a nationally recognized athlete who was featured in Sports Illustrated this year. This is his second year as an All-American. Diop will play in the All-American game in Orlando on December 2nd.

Diop is a rare player who is extremely adept at scoring (34 goals  last year as a junior), and exceptional at getting his teammates involved.

As a senior Diop faced more intense pressure from his opponents.

“It was not easy,” Diop told nj.com. “Also, how the other teams played against me, sometimes they would triple team me, or even put four defenders on me.

Teams put multiple defenders on Diop to prevent him from scoring, but he responded by setting up opportunities to score for his teammates. Drop scored 25 goals and 15 assists this past season, proving his ability to adapt to different defending play styles.
